Wilmer Fischer

Wilmer W. Fischer, 90, Washburn, North Dakota, passed away Sunday, October 29, 2023, at a local care center. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 2, 2023, at DaWise-Perry Funeral Services, 4211 Old Red Trail, Mandan. Visitation will be from one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Wilmer was born November 1, 1932, at Streeter, North Dakota, to William G. and Christine (Klein) Fischer. He was raised and educated in Steele, where on June 15, 1951, he married Polly Triggs. Wilmer worked for a plumber, an electrician, and farmed before serving in the US Army in Germany as a jeep driver. Upon his return, he spent his working life in retail sales. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW.

He is survived by one daughter, Sandy (Dean) Swanson, Washburn; four sons, Lee (Liane), Buffalo, North Dakota, Bill, Mandan, Mark (JoAnn), Mandan, and Carl, Bonner Springs, Kansas; special people, Truong Nguyen, Sandy Kay Hoffer; grandchildren, Lindsay (Ryan) Masset, Whitley, Taylor, Paul (Hailey) Swanson, and Tim Swanson, Carrie (Steve) Wolff, Keshia (Garrett) Kropp, Joshua Lee; Great-grandchildren, Miles, Kayce, Lorelei, Imogene, Elliot, Ozzy; and several nieces and nephews.

Wilmer was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Polly; son, Paul; and four brothers, Rueben, Harold, Melvin, Raymond Fischer; and one sister, Edna Remmich.
